toronto.kijiji.ca/c-pets-accessories-Cage-play-pen-rabbit-ferret-chinchilla-guinea-pig-W0QQAdIdZ120426922This is what I sent to him/her lets hope they respond and at least take out chinchilla from the ad. Maybe if others push it too it would help him/her to edit the ad and take out chinchilla. could I please ask that you take the word chinchilla out of this add. These cages are not safe for chinchilla at all. Listed below are the following reasons. 1.)The bar spacing is too wide chinchilla will get their heads stuck and could break their neck. 2.) chinchillas literally bounce off the walls of their cages while leaping from one level to the next. Broken legs can result from not having a solid enough surface to bounce off of. 3.) Most of these things are made with a plastic coating on the out side chinchillas well eat that and it is fatal to a chinchilla and the same goes for the tie straps too. So I just ask that you take out chinchilla from this ad, they homemade cages for Rabbits, Ferret, guinea pigs and hedgehog.

I dont think the bar spacing is an issue. However the whole cage would be crap....
It isnt sturdy for a chin, it is plastic, and it has zip ties......oy vey! Hope they take that word off!!

i have a small cube i made for the chins out of those just to put over top of them if i had to leave the chin room for something while they were playing so they wouldnt get into trouble... and chloe would try and stick her head through so i had to double up the panels so the spacing wasnt so wide.

this is what I got as a responds back. Hi, There are many ways to modify the cage if you're worried about large spacing. First off the squares are only an inch wide, I guess it depends on how young or small the animal is.. But I've seen photos of people using the mesh wire cubes instead of the ones I posted, which are similar to stack up, or you can double grid which would be great as a bird cage too. See here Mesh Cubes www.guineapigcages.com/photos/showphoto.php/photo/7713/limit/all Double Grid www.guineapigcages.com/photos/showphoto.php/photo/12888/limit/all I was only posting the basics of how to build a cage and the type of material that can be useful. As I said, people that are creative will find tons of ways to ensure safety and convenience too!

Those types of cages are all over ebay, and everyone puts "chinchilla" in their listings, too. I think it's important that we debunk that MISinformation as often as possible. I have it on my website that they are not suitable, so everyone who has care sites (TARA!!) make sure you add that in.

i have never seen those mesh ones anywhere before!!
its not even just about the spacing thats an issue for chins, its the PLASTIC coating on them thats bad. what a twit. when i first got Willow, Melissa had made her a cage with the double panelling like that link.. she never did chew it but i wasnt risking it at all. and besides, the QC mansion she now has looks WAY better lol
