I would agree. I just got a rescue in a similar cage. I'm not crazy about it. I'm having to replace all the plastic in it with wood, which is basically a must for long term housing, and the cage wires give me trouble when trying to hang ledges and perches. They're almost spaced too far apart. The overall size of the cage is good though. Shop around a little. Any extra money spent on a high quality cage is well worth it!

I work at Petsmart and I don't think those cages are safe. I got a martins cage and I like it alot. Also alot of people in this forum have Ferret Nation cages from Petsmart which on sale right now that take out the plastic or put liners on them and put wood shelving.

We have quite a few Canadian members on here. Maybe they can assist you, but the Ferret Nation is on sale at Petsmart, if you have a petsmart rewards card, you can get that cheaper

Pj's usually has the Ferret Nation on sale. I'm not sure where you are in Canda but there are quite a few places to get a great cage.
I've bought some second hand ones off of kijiji.ca Sometimes you can get a great deal.

Pet store cages tend to be over priced and lower quality (except the FN) so look and online want ads or other mom and pop cage manufacturers.

I agree with Dawn... when I first got my chins I purchased superpet cages and I wish that I never would have wasted the money. I bought them because a.) I didn't know any better and b.) they were the easiest and most available. I really think that you will be disappointed that you spent $100 on it and then you will have to spend more for the wood shelves and such. I bought a FN cage recently and four cages from Martins and they are all much better than the superpet cages.

I am in Canada too, and was reallllllyyy frustrated trying to find a good cage. I haunted Kijiji looking for something suitable and tried to find a Ferret Nation, but had no luck! The Ferret Nations came in around 380.00, and then you need some wood for shelves. I ended up building, I am not sure if that is an option for you but for 280 (give or take) I was able to build a big safe cage. It doesn't need to be this big but here's my thread if you are interested. There are pics from start to finish. chinsnfriends.proboards60.com/index.cgi?board=housing&action=display&thread=7324

The only problem with getting that cage is that you have to gut it and the accessories are not great either. Bad wheel, bad hammock, so you are paying for a LOT of stuff you can't use anyway. You could also check with your local Craig's List - www.craigslist.com - and try to find a good used "shell" of a cage, like an aviary or a ferret cage. Sometimes you can pick up a nice big cage for $40 - $50, and then you have the extra cash for making shelves and stuff.

I do know that someone was selling some second hand FN's in Fonthill, which isn't too far from you. AND there's someone also selling cages in Welland.
You can probably find a bunch of ads on kijiji.ca in the St. Catherines area.
There use to be a great pet store in Fonthill but I don't know if it's still there. I use to live in the Niagara area.

I agree - avoid the PetSmart cages - I started out with one and it was a wast of money. Mouse figured out how to open it and was eascaping all the time.
How about driving south to get a cage. You're close to the boarder.
