Ok at the moment I am bummed. Gizmo & JoJo have been housed next to each other for months and never even really paid attention to each other. Well tonight I thought I would try to let them have some play time together and see how that went. Well mean old Gizmo about snatched poor JoJo bald. I was right there and separated them immediately but not before Giz managed to snag a mouthful of fur.
Should I just hang it up and not try anymore?

I wouldn't try it again right away. That level of aggression that fast is not a good omen. Give them a week or two to chill out and forget what just happened. What about swapping cages at night? That would get them used to each other's scent. When you are ready, try that for a week or so and then try playtime again.

I would say after only one failed intro all hope isn't lost. Just wait about a week or two and maybe try again. You really just have to be patient when it comes to intros... and you also have to know that sometimes it just won't work. I would guess that there's still a chance though... did you try the intro in a neutral place where neither of them normally plays? That always helps and put lots of dust in there to distract them. GOOD LUCK!

Yeah I did try a neutral place. Poor Jojo has about 3 spots where his fur is messed up/missing right around his little bottom. Giz is definitely the aggressive one. JoJo was running from him and never offered to retaliate.

Does the cage switching really seem to help? I have been trying to intro Chula and Buttons and I am having the exact same problem. Chula snatched fur from Buttons' bum and I grabbed him and playtime was over. Housed side by side they seem absolutely fine. No aggression or anything. Together at playtime though it all went downhill. I've only tried once, but I would like to try again in the future.

I did cage swapping with Tami and Evie, to a certain degree - I let them explore each other's cages while one was out. I think the scent recognition aspect of it did help, so that when they met face to face it was "oh, it's YOU!" instead of "Who are YOU?!"...
