Is plain dish soap (Sunlight) aright to clean Eiko’s cage? I was going to use that and some vinegar and water mixture to get it right, doing the fleece in soap with no softener as I’ve heard its bad.
Any other pointers?

I'll be honest and say, I use lysol on my pans. I let it sit for about 10 minutes, then rinse it. Then I go over it with Dawn dishwashing liquid (very mild), and rinse it again.
I use lysol in the washing machine with the fleece, and rinse it twice (my washer has a 2nd rinse option).

I use vinegar and water only. If I am taking parts into the bathtub, I will use bleach, but I rinse really well.

I use regular laundry soap with the liners. It is only a no no to use softener as it will null the ablility to pull the pee into the absorbent layer. You can use vinegar and water to wash the pan, or any other method listed above.
I dont like putting vinegar into a washer but that is just me. I dont even use chlorine bleach in a washer, I use Eco-friendly bleach.

I have cages where I can pull out the pan from the bottom. I wipe those down with bleach wipes, let it sit, and then rinse it a couple times with a wet rag.

I only put eco-friendly detergent and pine-sol in the washer.

I used the dish soap with some deodorizer that I was given that was small animal safe (it was given to me by panda when I got Eiko and I followed instructions perfectly and even allowed it to air for extra caution because I’m anal that way). I washed the bedding in soap only; I left out the bleach and fabric softener. Right now Eiko is waiting for the bedding to be washed (I only have one set at the moment ^^)
Thank you everyone! ;D

Ooh, nice job on your signature!! I use Tide w/ Bleach for the fleece and run it through twice. I use Nil Odor for cage cleaning followed by a rinse with plain water.

Just a small splash of the pine sol in the fleece wash, Tracy, with either an extra rinse cycle afterwards or a whole second cycle with just detergent. I've never tried Nature's Miracle.

I've used natures miracle before. It's got a lot of peroxide in it. It's just cheaper for me to buy peroxide than spend $28 a gallon on natures miracle. LOL

Is that the stuff that has the microbes in it for dogs and cat messes?

I use regular laundry detergent for the fleece... it does sometimes leave a tiny amount of odor behind, but it isn't anything serious. I just use diluted hydrogen peroxide to clean the shelves and cage parts and rinse with water. It seems to work just as well if not better than that clean cage stuff that I used to spend a fortune on at petsmart.

So those of you that have the Bass pans, do you totally remove them to clean?? One of mine is going to be 4" and I bet that is going to be somewhat heavy...

I personally do not remove the pans themselves. I remove the liners and all toys, etc and just scrub down the pan inside the cage. I wipe down the pans each time I change liners and it works out ok. I haven't had any problems with odor, etc.

Kay, I don't think the extra metal will make them that much heavier. They are pretty light, just awkward. I know my top pan for Gabby is a tight fit, so if I need to I will yank it, but I usually do the above. Take all the stuff out and wipe them down

I only take the pans out during the once a month cage scrubdown. Okay, sometimes it's more like once every 6 weeks. I just wipe them down every night when I clean off the liners. It's a job wrestling them in and out of the cages! Erin gave me a great tip for it, though, - pop the doors off first! They come right off by just lifting them up, and then the pan slides in and out much easier. (except for my top pan that was DENTED by UPS, it's still a bit mangled and I have trouble getting it in and out. )

To disinfect, we use white vinegar, let it sit for 5-10 min. then rinse well. For regular maintenance cleaning we use this wonderful stuff called Healthy Habitat, it's made by Natural Chemistry. It's an enzyme cleaner hat dissolves organic matter. It also eliminates odors It's safe to use for Reptiles,Birds, and Small Animals. It says on the bottle that you can leave the animal in the cage while cleaning, but we do not! Just to be safe,we always take Chazz or our lizards our of their "houses" to clean them. Then, to be extra safe,I always take a damp paper towel and wipe over the cleaned area in case of residue. But I'm over- protective! We buy it online from Drs Foster & Smith but you can find it at some Petsmarts or Petcos.
