This might sound strange but I have noticed Tinkerbell doesn't really take a dust bath she goes in sits there and gets out. All the others go crazy in the dust. Is there a way to teach a chin to dust, or is it something she will learn after awhile?

She may not like the container you are using. If she is new, I hope she has her own container and not one that is going from chin to chin, as that would not be condusive to quarantine. Do you have a dish or a house? Gabby did not like the open pan and neither did Slippers, they both wanted houses, so now all my chinnies have their own, rather expensive, plastic houses If that doesnt help, when she gets in, sprinkle the dust on her, it will help her want to get it off and roll.

She should come around, I did have one who NEVER bathed, tried everything but even after having her for 4 years she never dusted. I had to do it for her, put her in the bottom of a rubbermaid garbage can with dust in the bottom so she could not jump out and I just dust scrubbed her three times a week.

she has her own house well pan and her share a house its the one they came with. I think they was sleeping in it more then they used it as a dust house, but I could be wrong. When I picked them up the house was at the bottom of the cage and was empty of all dust. They wouldn't even jump into it to be removed from the cage so I can only guess it was in there all the time. only the ones that came in pairs share their dust house. Furball(Gus), and Zilla(Cruella) both have their own house/flower.

Maybe she would prefer a dish or bowl to dust. Sometimes it is just trial and error.

She is probably just too skittish to dust yet, it involves a lot of trust for them to expose their bellies like that. If you have a shallow pan you can put in her cage and then walk away to give her privacy, she might dust that way. She will settle in with time, I am sure.

I'm reading this and in my head I'm imagining a plastic bag with dust in it, putting a chinchilla in there and shaking it up like you would Shake n Bake coating. Now, I'm just seriously joking people. You should never do that to your chinchilla, lol. We are having that for dinner tonight though. No, not chinchilla, pork chops.

Sugar would get highly offended when I dusted her, it was like she liked the stinky smell she produced!

Pancake was the like that when I got her. After awhile I learned that if I left the room, she'd roll around in it. She just wanted her privacy Now she loves dust baths as much as the other chins, and I'm allowed to watch.

You should see my four big fat arses squeeze into this lil plastic bubble that came with the bebe. It was brand new and still in its box, so I took it out and let the big butts explore it. It was friggin' hilarious and I couldn't believe they actually fit into it, especially Imax. They loved it. Bebe hasn't bathed yet since he left Serena's so I'm going to put a little pan of dust in there later on tonight or tomorrow.

I just talked to him a few minutes ago and he's staying until tomorrow. He's out playing pool with a friend of ours and having a blast. That's good b/c I don't want him driving after he's been drinking.

Trust me, when he gets back with the camera I will take pics of Bebe b/c he just melts in your hands and doesn't move a muscle. Very easy to photograph. Not like the rest of my squirmers.

I let Brownie dust in the bathtub in a big pot , I put him in the tub and closed the shower curtain. (I peeked though..lol) I thought he might feel like he was in a safeish spot.
