Theo has some bad knots in his fur. He is just now allowing me to pet him and I noticed them. I have a dog comb that I was kinda brushing him with, but are there any good brushes or something that I can do. He has these little tuffs that stick up all over now.

This is what I use for about $8.00 from the pet section in Walmart. It works great for me to remove mats.

what kind of comb is that? Is that like a flea comb? I know that I read somewhere that you can purchase combs specially made for chinchillas but I seem to remember that they were expensive...

It's just a regular dog comb. I don't show so I can't justify buying a set of expensive chinchilla combs when the regular dog comb does the job of taking clumps or mats which is not often.

Chin combs are a scam for pet owners, 30.00 per junky comb is so not worth it. If you are not showing that comb will be fine. I work the mat free with my fingers, just keep plucking and the chin will release it.

I use a rabbit comb. Less than $5.00.

Unless you are showing your chins the rabbit and cat combs work great for getting small matts and tufts out.
