[Disclaimers: Please don't think that I am in the process of doing this. I was just curious. I asked this here because I knew I'd be crucified for asking it elsewhere.]
Would a clean bill of health from the vet be an ok reason to shorten quarantine time? I know they also need to get adjusted routine and bacteria-wise, but if an experience chin vet says it's ok, what would be the objections?
The new guy was snuggled up with his stuffed buddy and made me feel sad for him. I know quarantine is in everyone's best interest and is also a good time for him to start bonding with me and my boyfriend.

I feel like quarantine is best for the new chin MOSTLY because it gives them time to settle in to the new house, new sounds, new smells, new people, etc. before having to deal with the added stress of having another chin around as well.

I agree, the deal also with why a vet visit won't catch everything is things like strep have a incubation period, 7-21 days and so do most infectious diseases.

PS - you REALLY need to name that poor little guy, Lisa!! I know I do! I think the reason I haven't named him is because I'm so scared there's something wrong with him and he's going to die on me. So if I name him, it's going to hurt worse because there's that extra connection. Yes, it's completely ridiculous, but my "what-if" drive thru is always open. Baz was without a name for about two weeks. The right thing will come to me.

what about another spice/herb name? is that how you came up with basil? (I think basil is a spice?) Basil is a spice/herb, but that's not why he got his name. I had been stuck on 'B' names when I was trying to name Basil. He was sweet and smart and I wanted something to go with that. I liked Bruce and even Edwin for a while. I had been calling him "sweet boy" in the interim. Chad, my boyfriend, was making spaghetti one night and was asking what kind of sauce I wanted in a British accent. Tomato and Basil was one of the sauces and the rest is history. I'm stuck on a bear theme with this guy. For some reason he reminds me a little bit of a koala bear. I also want to interact with him more to get a sense of his personality.

How about Thyme? If you look back through the posts in this thread, time is the popular theme...(I know, I'm a dork, I'll shut up now).
