Ok tonight I checked the two boys. Furball had one large one I seen him licking majorly today and so I checked. I'm glad I braved it and did it because I think it was starting to cut things off, there is a mark from where it was. If I had to guess in the 4 years she had him he never got checked once. Thantos didn't have any so we was happy with that. But while checking Furball I seen these and this might be a supid question but is this his balls or is this something I should worry about and take him to the vet to have checked out?

I wasn't sure and wanted to check...they didn't look like that on Thanatos so that is why I asked. Now I feel really stupid.

Boys ascend and descend due to temps and the such, you are not the first one to ask and IMO no question is stupid, only the unasked one!

Thanks for asking this, I am glad that you asked. I was wondering the same thing. I haven't been able to check Theo yet but like you I know he hasn't been checked before so it worries me.

I have to say chinnie balls aren't nearly as bad as most other rodents. It's the reason I almost ALWAYS get girls, in any rodent species. I have a male syrian hamster right now and I totally gross out everytime he turns around.

On another note - with that ring gone maybe his mood will change.

This is a new question just about ring checks so I thought I would ask under this one instead of starting a new one. I did the ring check about 3 weeks ago...well something didn't seem right so I checked Furball again tonight and found another really thick ring is this common to find them like this? This one tonight was thicker then the last one and wasn't tight like the last one.
Is this something I should be looking for regularly until he is back to full health? I don't see much fur loss but his coat is looking thicker and a lot better with regular baths every other night.

I wouldn't say that it is out of the ordinary to find a couple in a row... I check my boys every month and sometimes sooner if I notice them chewing or bothering with it alot... there have been times that I've found a good sized one twice in one month on Boo. Of course he ummm... how to say this... "plays" with his frequently and is constantly tail wagging and chirping.

I think that some boys are more prone to them than others, I am pretty sure Dawn has one guy that gets them pretty darn regularly and she has to really watch him.
