a few people use PVC pipes in their cages or as part of toys. i have a few out for playtime. my chins dont chew it at all, but there may be some out there who do. its a really hard plastic so most get bored of trying, but some chins are beavers and will destroy ANYTHING lol

You can use them, just need to watch for over zealous chewing!

You can use it as a hiding place if that is what you meant. I hope he's not thinking of building a cage with them, ha ha ha! ;D

He says no he isn't planning a cage out of them he is going to give them tunnels to run though (a maze type thing). and he was going to go as far as lining it with fleece.

make sure if he is going to make a maze that has many pieces put together that you can easily take it apart... I worked at a home improvement store for about three years and I know that sometimes those pvc pieces can fit very snug and are extremely hard to get apart.. you don't want a chinnie stuck in there (or just refuse to come out ;)and not be able to get to it if you need to...

My chins only had a PVC pipe in their outside playarea and it still got chew marks on it. I ended up throwing it away. All chins are different though.

we seen chew marks on the shelves in the cage they came in (plastic shelves) so that is why he was going to line them with fleece. But he wanted to make sure it was safe to use.
I think the only reason there was chew marks is because they had nothing but 2 huts all chewed up in their cage.

when i first got Chloe there was chew marks all over her plastic shelves and the plastic igloo her last owner had for her. as soon as i put her in a new cage with actual WOOD things to chew, she doesnt even attempt to chew on her plastic litter box. so sometimes a chin will chew those things just bc nothing else is available, but once you provide them with better toys, the stop chewing that other stuff. but of course, not ALL chins work this way, and some chew plastic regardless so you can never have any in the cage ever! lol
