^My daughter wants to get a carrier and she wasn't if she could use cat carriers.
Also could you use a small pet taxi?

I have the Kennel Cabs from petco. I have a small one for when I bring Hopper to the vet, and a medium size one for when I have to bring both Hopper and Shadow.

I have an extra small one that I don't need. If you want it you can have it. I had gotten another small one when we got shadow so that they didn't have to share before they started getting along. Now, I have 2 small ones and one medium size one.

I have one large carrier from Ryerson's(10 hole) then I have a two hole one from Judy Pede (JPChinchillas). I have some wooden ones too from other breeders, and although I have used a kitty one, I found my chins will try to chew through the sides if given the opportunity.
I like the carriers from Judy or Ryerson's best since they are metal and can't be chewed through, also compact enough to fit more than one or two, yet also safe too(less risk of injury in them should they have any issues with being shipped or tossed around in cargo.).

If they have to be in it for a LONG time (2+ hours) plastic will be chewed. It's not so bad on a day trip, like when you are picking up a chin because they mostly sleep for the car ride, but a plastic carrier is not something you want to leave them in long term.

I have two two-holes and one four-hole of the Ryerson carriers, then I use cat carriers for pairs. I like the Ryerson carriers a lot, too, because they're chew proof and pretty hardy. The only issue I have is, if I'm on a long drive like to a far away show, I have to reach back and keep moving them out of the sun light. Even with the AC on, the metal will warm up quick in direct sun.

I need to really get carriers together. The local newspaper showed the fire danger zones for San Diego county (places that haven't burned) and we are smack in the middle. We don't have enough carriers for the chins and I need to be more prepared. Looks like I'll be spending some time on CL tonight.
