I'm not sure if I am posting this in the right place so feel free to move it...lol I was wondering about the growth spurts of babies around 6months old... What is the baseline for a good weight gain? I am asking because Tinkerbell has gained 60g in a month and a half.. Is that normal? She eats good and is not fed junk food or a ton of treats just pellets and timothy hay and some orchard grass... Her pellets are oxbow... She has gained 10 more grams since I weighed her last week same. I done it last Saturday also and at the same time of day both times.

She's new to your house, so it could just be that she is getting better food, has less stress, etc. I don't think there is a specific number, since all chins are different... OR she could be pregnant, lol. Just keep an eye on her for the next 50 days or so...

lol.... I missed the growth spurt with Wakka. Because of her accident she didn't have a big weight gain like this so I was just curious if it was normal...lol I got a weight on Wakka too and she only gained 5 grams in a week I was just kinda surprised that Tink gained 10....lol

I don't recall any "growth spurt" with Evie, but she was a big honking baby from the getgo... and she just grew exponentially...

Tink was a little thin when I got her so I hope it's because she is on a good diet...lol

I think because they're all different there's no set appropriate weight. Zane never had a big growth spurt. He gets a proper diet, plenty of playtime, and has a round lil butt, but he'll have his first birthday on Sunday ;D and is only 480 grams. His sister is 540 g! Zane takes after his dad in a lot of ways, apparently. Zeke is only 515 g, and I don't remember an exact weight on Zane's mom, Zandra, but it was low 500s, too.

He's had a vet check-up, eats well, seems perfectly healthy, and is sure not skinny. It just looks like he's going to be a small chin. Chico, my first chinchilla, was 940 grams at one point, and was upper-800s up until he died from dental disease. Chins are like people and can come in all sizes.

My chins are just turning a year now, and I definitely saw a huge weight gain. My baby is a giant furball now.
