How do you clean the water bottle? Just water? Soap? Something else?

If its glass you can boil it. That's what I do!

I do hot water and soap. I also make sure to rinse with drinking water before using them.

:)Really hot soapy water, bottle brush, and if that doesn't get it sparkling clean I add a handful of dried rice in the soap/water in the bottle and shake it really well. The rice will scrub it in places that you can't get out with a bottle brush. Most glass bottles can go through dishwasher on hot setting too!

Does anyone else use alcohol? To disinfect? I use alcohol and rinse it like 10 times in hot water than 2-3 times in cold water.

For general cleaning, whether glass or plastic, I spray a 50-50 solution of water/vinegar into the bottle and the nozzle, put the nozzle back on and give it a really good shake. Then I rinse both parts out with hot water. I also take all five bottles and nozzles off and run them through my dishwasher quite often.

Just a reminder, the rubber ring inside the nozzle cannot be boiled, and probably really shouldn't go through the dishwasher either. I just scrub mine out every week and boil them every couple of months. I change the water daily so they really don't have a chance to get too funky. Now the guinea pig bottle is another story, lol. Scooter backwashes.

I boil that rubber ring all of the time! Why can it not be boiled? Because it will become brittle or another reason? I've been boiling it for years without any "leakage" problems.

Actually, come to think of it... I'm not too terribly sure that the superpet bottles have a rubber ring. It looks like silicone to me... feels alot like a baby bottle nipple...

Boiling rubber releases something out of it, can't remember what. Bad stuff, lol. Plus it causes the rubber to dry out and crack prematurely. The silicone ones probably shouldn't be boiled either. Soapy washing in hot water is plenty good enough!

Silicone is actually made to withstand high heat and pressure. They use it in the medical and science industry a lot so they can just throw it in an autoclave and be sure its sterile.
