I'm thinking about adding some more fleece items to the cage... tubes/hideouts/etc and just had a few questions about them.
1. A lot of places I've been looking have fleece tubes and then fleece tube covers extras. Do you change these often? Or are the extras sort of just for show to change the fleece up?
2. I'm looking at these websites and I think I might be going a little fleece happy with wanting every fleece item possible. I have four hammocks on the way (Thanks, Allie!), but would like some hideouts, beds, what have you. How many fleece items do you have scattered around your cage? I have a double critter nation with 2 chins. I don't want to spend a ton of money on getting a bunch and making it cluttered if it's better to only have a few.
3. What's your chins favorite fleece item?
4. and toys..... my chins just don't have enough of them! Any suggestions? They have a hanging wood chew, but they rarely use it. And then they have these paper rollup things that they love.
5. I was looking at getting treats and saw a lot of people give rosehips and petal, alphalfa chews, regular cheerios etc. I'm just looking for how many to order... 1 chinchilla can only have 1 treat a week...correct? So, they couldn't have rosehips, alfalfa chews and cherrios in the same week? It would just be one cheerio one week, one rosehip the next, etc?
I know it's a lot of questions, sorry!

1. I've had the same "tubes" for almost a year and just change the fleece cover! It depends how much of a fleece addict you are as to how much you change it! I deck my cages out in a different theme every week...."Hi, my name is Raychel and I am a fleece addict." 2. I have 2 girls in a FN cage, so they each have 1 level. I have a hammock, tube, and cylinder house in each level 3. Zoey is addicted to her hammock, and Lilo her cylinder house...but they both use their tubes religiously! 4. You can put a whole whack of things in! Hanging toys, toss toys, just little random things for them to carry around and destroy...it keeps them busy! 5. I give one treat every day or every other day. Rosehips are the main one, then I switch out to apple pomace once/week and sometimes give them a cheerio in that week, too, in place of rosehips. Hope this helps!! Have fun!!

If your babies are less than 6 months old, they are not supposed to have ANY treats whatsoever. After 6 months you can do one tiny treat per day, or less often if you want to be more circumspect. It really depends on what treat you are using, and what size it is. Larger treat items like chin cookies I would only do once a week. Things like rose hips can be given daily, in tiny amounts, like the size of your fingernail.
As for fleece, whichever items you pick, you are going to want a couple of them for wash days. I personally have hammocks, and tubes, hanging houses and cuddle cups, but I don't put it all in at once. I switch things out every now and then to keep them interested. The hanging houses I save for winter, lol.
As for toys, I keep a couple of hanging toys in each cage, but then I have a little wooden toy box in each cage that I throw a handful of chew toys into each night. They like to dig in it and pick one. I use chew sticks, chew blocks, shredders, etc.

No Problem about the Hammocks! They will be shipped out tomorrow.
I noticed all my girls including Annie LOVE their tubes! I also have a donuts pillow thing that Annie on the form made. Ivy loves to sit on that and eat the hanging toy right there or her hay.

Thanks, Kara! I will wait to order treats for sure then!
Allie- yayyy. I'm so excited!
Well it sounds like the consensus with chins are those tubes! There are sooo many things I want to buy for them, but it's so expensive when it all adds up! Oh, well!
I've let Ember out to play in a section of the chin room, and I noticed that she is already trying to eat the carpetting. I know someone on here suggested the plywood and cheap carpetting, but my better half doesn't want to do that. :/ I'm sad that I can't let them play in their own room! But I've been looking at those WARE pens and was wondering how they work for playtime? They aren't made out of fleece... do they still try to chew it?

My girls will nibble at the carpet occasionally, I just shoo them away and/or hand them a stick. It usually works.

My girls will nibble on a part of the carpet if there is dust left on there for some reason. It is kinda funny.

Only Gizmo here nibbles carpet, but he's BAD about it. He does it when he's ready for his bath, usually. That and sitting on the step at the front of the cage are Gizmoese for "I want my bath NOW, Mommy!!"
