Been there, done that, with the red pee. It's been a few years but I remember the total panic and searching for injuries, then getting on the board just scared to death. I'm thinking kidney injury or something. I had never noticed it until I installed a very light colored shelf that they decided to "baptize" and I must have seen it right after cause it sure looked like blood or bloody pee.
So relieved when I learned the secret to chin pee.

The orange looking pee was the very first thing that sent me into a panic too. I remember calling chins-to-go and having Debbie calm me down.

Its PEE!!!!! Chin pee can range in color from dark yellow to dark orange brown, almost can look like blood. Since they don't drink much the urine is concentrated, no worries! Loose poo looks more like pudding patties, its very rare to have watery poo, that type is usually accociated with stasis or bloat. Gosh thankyou! I was just wondering that very thing. My guys pee looks like blood! On the fleece it looks very different, depending on the fleece color. Thanks!

Their pee does look quite different depending on what kind of substrate that you have them on. I thought that Boo had some sort of UTI or kidney issues because I watched him pee on the floor one day and when I went to wipe it off of the tile... the paper towel looked like it had blood on it! Of course the vet reassured me that it was in fact just a normal pee.
And as far as the ring checks go... good luck with that. I have two that will just sit still and let me do it, one that doesn't like it but will settle down after a few escape attempts, and two that will fight me tooth and nail. I hope that you have chinnies that will cooperate with ya! It makes it so much easier when you can just do it by yourself.
