First off, welcome!
It can be very dangerous if the dog carries pasturella, dogs can carry it silently and its deadly to chins. Keep the dog away from the chin is my advice, better safe than sorry.

hmmm.....I'm sure that the saliva has germs that would not be good for the chin but I would be just as worried of the dog attacking the chin. Even if you think it would never happen, it has and the results are horrific.

I'm with Deena - even if the dog is the healthiest dog around, it still has the instinct to attack small furry rodents. Even if you think the dog is "too nice" or "too tame" they still have the instinct, it's buried but it's there. I have 4 small dogs in my home, and they are not ever allowed to interact with my chins. It's for the safety of all.

Just don't let the dog lick the chin and you will be fine.

I learned on this forum that any other animal can carry stuff that isn't good for chins. Including cats, dogs, rabbits. They can be healthy but the germs they pass on will make the chins sick. I moved my rabbits to another room after learning this.
My dogs sit quietly next to my in the chin room during play time but they aren't allowed to move around. The chins used them for jumping off boards but I don't let them touch noses or anything. You have to know the animals well and don't take any chances. My dogs are both herding breeds. I wouldn't trust a little dog in the same room.
Good question.

Hello and Welcome! I have to agree with the others, it's best to just let the dog look from afar rather than take any chances....
