All the advice given is very good. I recommend 1/2" x 1 " bars spacing for kits. It looks as as if your bar spacing is a lot bigger than that right now. I see you have someting, I can't really tell what around the cage but kits learn to bar climb very early. Any uncovered space is potentially an exit place for a little kit.

Oh jeeze you sure have your hands full. What a BIG surprise!!
As far as your question about keeping males and females in a divided cage later on.... I personally would NOT. I would play it safe and keep them in separate cages. Also, I would NOT keep the cages right next to each other. In my opinion and personal experience the females can cause the males to fight. To me it's NEVER worth the risk.

I will put them into different cages later on when the babies are able to eat alone. I worry about the two big girls more, the mom seems like she hate her old time cagemate after the birth. Days ago, she bite at her old time cagemate's nose! I found out when I saw there is sth on the poor girl's nose and some blood on the food bowl edge the other day! The mom not only attacks her mate but also on me... she bite me HARD when I was trying to stop them fight.

That is why you need to have a space between the 2 cages if you are keeping them side by side. At least and inch if it is 1/2x1 inch wire and more if it is any bigger. Depending on the wire you may need at least 4 inches between them, and then gradually get the cages butted up.
Females are all different when they have kits. Some could care less what you do with them and some get over protective. That is the only time I have been successfully sprayed in the face.

The kits WILL escape the cage if the bars are not covered with smaller mesh. It's surpising that they haven't done so already. It's the kits you need to worry about now. Are they gaining 2 grams per day? If not they should be supplemented.
