Guys! I have a question.. isn't PVC pipes plastic? Then how come I've seen some cages with it? how is it safe for chinchillas if they can ingest it? Thanks

They're very hard plastic and I think they have them in cages where the chins don't chew plastic or they start to chew them but give up since they're hard.

They're generally too hard for chinnie teeth to do much damage to and like anything else if you see your chin really gnawing on them you must remove them. It's kind of like there are tons of us who use fleece liners but there are chins who'll chew fleece so they can't have it. They're much safer as a playtime toy where the chin is supervised the whole time they are with them.

.. i know this is an old post...but I wanna ask whats the size is good enough for the chins I want to try if I can put it in their cage or for their playtime. Thanks

You would need something 4-6" in diameter, the bigger the better so they can't get stuck.
