I don't do raisins in my house but that is only because they can kill dogs so I try to keep everything that isn't good for the dogs or other animals out of the house. Even my kids don't get to eat them (only because the 1 1/2 year old feed the dogs). I have done apple chips and banana chips I make them for the kids and had given the chins a tiny bit of one but they got those 2 months ago...so it is a real treat.

As for the apple pomace, I have given that on occasion but it's not something my girls really love. Kind of a big treat, anyway, so if you give them, smash it with a hammer first and give smaller peices. My guinea pigs, however, go NUTS for those things.

I think what concerns me about giving oats or other treats every day is that they may just eat those and not eat enough of the pellets. I alternate between oats, rosehips, sticks, and teresa's mulberry coins (they have a special coating on top).
I don't want to be a wrb (we already have one of those!) but I found out quite by accident that one of my chins is allergic to wheat. I immediately stopped giving shredded wheat to everyone. He got bloat but it was very mild and I had a lot of help on the board so he made it through fine. It happens everyone in a while in chins so I didn't want to take any chances.

Oh no shredded wheats for me too then! Is cheerios ok? The breeder I got snowball from gave her chinnies cheerios and of course I too give her these.

I also had two chins with wheat allergies, I never recommend shreddies as treats, its not worth the chance of GI upset-loose poo, gas, constipation.

I give the apple pomace treats once and a while. Oats are the big thing for all my guys and I usually add rosehips to it. That has to be their favourite treat.
I do have Lifeline always on hand so if you need any of that I have it.

Even cheerios upset Tami's stomach, she gets the sticky brown goop on her poop with either shreddies or cheerios. I'm guessing the cheerios have wheat as well, since that is what bothers her.

I noticed you said something about alternating treats. I try to alternate treats, but I generally don't give treats. I prefer things that also wear their teeth. What I'm saying is a treat doesn't have to be a treat. One night my guys may get twigs, the next they may get loose hay (I don't give it free choice, but it is recommended), the next I'll give them a hay cube. I used to give a treat that I made (oats, rosehips, and hay). I need to make some more for them. I started giving Ryerson supplement so I stopped making the oat treats. I would also like to purchase some pumice stones, but my supplier closed her store.
