Patience pays off! Spooky was a biter (and still is sometimes) but with time and some environmental changes, she has made almost a total 180. Sounds like things are getting better and you are gaining some trust.

Another thing you could do is where jeans and sweatshirts and sit with your hands inside the sweatshirt so they can't bite you. Just make sure you're protected and don't react at all when they bite you. Basically, if you pull away when they bite you've just taught them that biting works. If you react when they spray you, you've taught them spraying works. I know this because of my ex and an ex roommate. They both taught Berry to bite them. He doesn't bite me because it just doesn't work. I am still going to pick him up. I'm still going to give him scritches. It's taken me 4 years to get Berry somewhat calm. He's a total spaz. LOL Gotta love 'em anyways, though!

I am happy to hear they are coming around. It truly can take a LONG time for them. Took my ZeeZee months to get up the courage to come out of his hide house. Patience def. does pay off and I agree with sometimes we try to hard. Great job sticking with it!! In a year from now they will be different chins.

It's great to hear about them coming around. I know it's hard not to have patience. I have 5 girls who are still a little not into me holding them or handling them. I only have one who will let me pet them. It takes time. Good luck with it and keep up the good work

I can't really comment on the chin aspect but I can tell you this about my experience with a feral cat. This guy was so wild you had to throw a towel on him and pin him in the corner just to look at his leg (It was a mess and it was eventually removed) I sat in that room every day for hours on end, I'd talk to him and tell him it would be ok. Every nite I left I told him I loved him. The first time he purred for me I cried. That was 3 years ago. You would never think the cat you see now is the same one. He is a TOTAL ham! He loves everybody now. It just took someone who loved him to bring all that out. I'm sure you will do the same. Good luck.

Good luck. did the same thing with a very badly abused lovebird. it took 18 mos of bites on the hands, face, and gloves and then I got my first kiss. ;D I've had her now for 9 years.

I do now they are great and they will love you like no other animal. I guess I started to give up too soon on these two guys (live and learn right) but thank god for these wonderful people out here that gave me the confidence to keep going and tell me different things to do. Everyday Morrigan jumps into my arms almost like take me out please for play time. Thantoes took his first baby step yesterday with me he sat in my hand but as soon as I moved the other one he was gone to the corner of the cage. To see these two making so much progress just melts my heart and each day I grow more and more too.

That is rewarding, to see that they are slowly beginning to trust you. YEA!! I had one like that-- I have kept him and he is just our favorite chin ever, even my kids love him and can pet him now.
