I have a random question. More just curious. My one little girl, Tulip, she is very noisy when she sleeps. When i first heard it, i thought the girls where play fighting and when i went to check on them, she was a sleep. She only makes this sound when she is sleeping I guess my question is, is this normal? None of my other chinchillas do this. Thanks for the help

I've got what I've determined are some 'sleep screamers', they totally wake me up screeching but when I check on them they are passed out asleep or cozy, not looking frightened in the least.

Dante does the whole feet moving, tail wagging and squeek noises when he is asleep, first time I saw it I thought he was seizing but nope, just dreaming!

Me too -- they call out to me in their sleep. I think someone got hurt, run to check, and they are sound asleep.

Yep...mine do it, too. Mostly it's barking in their sleep which I've learned to ignore. But occasionally there is a loud shrill screaming noise that is very short lived. I always get up and run to the cage thinking one of them has fallen or gotten hurt. It's like they just want to see if I will come. Because they are either sleeping or just sitting looking at me like I'm the crazy one...LOL! Stinkers...

Mine don't bark in their sleep but Lily will do the warning cry while dozing off or lightly sleeping, as if She had a bad dream or is just plain cranky that someone dare make a sound while She tries to sleep!! LOL...

LOL... Beanie is always cranky when you wake her. Even if you walk by the cage and wake her. She gives the meanest look sometimes. I will have to get a picture of it because it makes me laugh.

Chinzilla does the whole screaming thing in this sleep also. Scares the living crap out of me every time he does it. I just go into his room talk to him a little bit and he seems to settle down.

I know Mouse dreams – little chew dreams, He also screams sometimes, wakes himself up and then when I check on him he’s looking at me like “What – you heard that too?”

Totally normal. Mine bark, whine and chatter in their sleep. Sometimes it's so loud it scares me. If I'm in the room when they're doing it, I'll say....What's wrong baby?!?? and for some reason they stop. Maybe they are having a bad dream. Who knows, but I know my voice comforts them. I wanna know what's going through my Rocky's head when he's running in his wheel screaming. We think he just gets so excited, he screams. ROFL!!!

first time I heard it I fell out of bed and triped over a dog while running to the cage to make sure he (Thantos) was ok. He was laying there sleeping away. He still does it but I don't kill myself getting to him now.

Fuzzy when he is mad will take something heavy like a lava rock or apple stick and drop it from his top shelf over his metal wheel. When it hits the metal he screams and runs around!
