So, I want to get the things I will be in need of now, rather than be out of it, when the new one arrives. So my question, will I fly thru everything faster now that it is 2 chins? I need to get more food, the food bucket is about half full, and I will call Jaqcuie and get more. But Slip is not hooked on treats (chin safe) like Fuzzy, so I assume I will just get more crushed rosehips and wood for him. Anything else I can buy more of to make him happy? I already talked to Linda and she is gonna make me 2 corner shelves, one with a food dish hole! So tips? I am so excited I can not think!

I don't think there is a shelve life date on wood......as long as its breatheable I wouldn't think there was a problem....unless you got termites......then watch out!!!........lol

I went from one chinchilla to three and I notice a huge difference with my supplies. Going from one to two shouldn't be as noticeable but you'll definitely see that you'll go through more: food, hay, dust and treats if you give any. Mostly, I notice I big difference in the food and hay, but I tell ya, those Grey Boys are hogs! Pip is a nibbler and often I'd throw out unused pellets and old hay but with these other guys around, they hoover up everything and the food bowls (two of them) and loads of hay is completely gone by the morning. Depends is Slippers is a hog or a dainty eater I guess, lol. Ask Mish.

Thanks CA. Fuzzy ususally pulls all his hay out and then eats it off the floor (shrugs) so each day I am gathering that off the fleece and filling his hay box again. Of which, I need to get something as a hay box for him. I think I will be going to Petco in the next few days for a water bottle.
I have a big bag of Hay, but I may order more. I am ordering hay cubes as well. Anyone object to the kaytee hay cubes as a treat and or supplement? Or should I go back to get them from online, anyone have a nice place to get hay cubes other than ryersons who now used a company in Canada for it?

Bonnie had 2 to start out with and then she went to three. There was a difference in the amount of toy parts she had to buy to make hanging toys and throw toys for the chins but thats about it. She bought her hay and pellets in bulk. I'll let you know the difference when she goes from 3 to 5. lol

Since you have time til slip arrives, I get my cubes from Carise. Hopefully, her comp problems will be over by then.

Going from one to two will double what you use in pellets, and hay, but it may triple what you use up in wood and toys! There will be some aggression over the new "scent" in the house at first and they may take it out on the wood around them...

I did the exact same thing when I got Roxxy (my 2nd chinnie). Now we have so many, I am just used to flying through everything, LOL. I still do it though! I have the new two coming tomorrow and I am just sitting down from cleaning the chin room. Oh and of course I just bought a ton of Ryerson's supplement and a new batch of hay! I still get giddy!!!

Lol, it is so exciting, I can see why everyone was so excited. I was happy to get Fuzzy, but it happened pretty fast, so I didnt have to wait too terribly long! I have a tiny place, so I have to learn to micromanage every last thing for the chins. I am off to the Wally world to get another storage thing and a new carrier from the pet store, bet walmart has cheap ones!

You'll be fine Tara, Going from one to two chins really isn't that big of a difference supply wise.

I have to keep in mind I have some time, and do not need to spend an entire paycheck in one sitting lol! I have food, and I have dust, and I have treats, I just need another container for wood, and the dust so I can keep it off my floor, and put away.
I have to just get a new carrier, I do not like the 2 hole ryerson one, I am getting a cat carrier for both boys, and MrALfie can have the petsmart one, with the insert, since he chewed the liner in the original one the lil jerk lol!
Must sit on hands...I was at Kristins site looking at dust, but the food I can get elsewhere, and not pay shipping, so I will do that......
