I use manzanita perches for my chins but Drs. Foster & Smith are rather expensive. You'd be better off going to Petco or PetSmart or a local reptile or bird shop. Grape vine perches are good too.
My boys have the big fat manzanita perches.

I use manzenita perches from KW Cages, so those are fine. The safety perch might be fine it it's like the lava perch (make sure). The tooty fruity pollen perch looks like it's bee pollen and cholla which is fine. Cholla cactus perch is great. The cuttlebone perch would be good for momma chins. I don't know about the rest and someone please correct me if I'm wrong. Grapevine is also great like Tina suggested. KW Cages is very close to me, so I don't have to pay shipping or anything. Check out their website clover.forest.net/kwcages/index.html and on the right is the bird section. Here is the perches link... clover.forest.net/kwcages/index.html I love their perches and they are great people.

Hey Donna... I am going there tomorrow. Do you want me to pick you up some perches? You get a discount when you buy 6 or more and they give me that discount if I buy 6 or more of any (they like me) I need some more so we'd be saving each other some money.

Thanks Erin. I don't need any right now. Bonnie was looking to maybe putting some in the cages after she was done remodeling them. Not sure if she'll have room for them but I thought I'd look and see where all she could get them if she does have the room. But Thanks anyways

Ah poop I didn't know that the manzanita perches were ok to use. I've seen those everywhere, but was unsure so I didn't purchase any. Umm concerned here...is grapevine perches different from grape wood perches? When I bought my perches at petco the tags on them read grape wood, which I assumed was the same thing as grape vine. When I look at Sally's site her perches of grapevine look alot different. Here's the ones at petco.. www.petco.com/product/102739/Mac-s-Natural-Wood-Grapevine-Perchs-for-Birds.aspx The site reads grapevine, but tag grape wood. I hope I didn't put something bad in their cages,I assumed it was the same thing.

Your fine. KW Cages sells them as grapewood as well. That link actually lists them as wood grapevine.

I generally agree with Erin. Looking at that page the manzanita and cholla perches are great for chins. I'd check out the tooty fruity perches because they may also have added sugar for that "fruity" flavor. Sugar just does bad things to their little guts.

I can't remember what the safety perch was made of, but I saw them at the nearby Petsmart and remember thinking they weren't safe. Just a random question on the tooty fruity perch...are they actually cholla or is it just made to mimick cholla? I read the description and it doesn't sound like it's actually cholla (calcium and bee pollen...I know the calcium is bad for chins, or at least too much of it like I would assume it is here, but I'm not sure about the bee pollen)

I use regular pine 2x4 cut offs to make perches. You can get scraps at Lowes or Home Depot, just make sure they are pine and NOT treated! You can also get hardware that is a wood screw at one end and a bolt at the other end- screw into the end of the wood and then use a nut and washer to bolt it to your cage. Cheap, chewable and safe.
