I came across a research paper on it a few years ago while I was researching Tito's eye issue, his clear pupils and blindness.

Huh, that is really neat. So are they more stimulated by those colors?

interesting.. i wonder how they figure that out.. I always wondered the same thing, how exactly they know what color an animal can see, just because it reacts a way?

They look at the cells within the eye. Rods and cones are responsible for color and light perception. Some animals only have one or the other, people have both!
I was supposed to dissect a sheep's eye when I was in high school, but I was absent that day. =p

In a class I took they said based on studies with dogs, that they see color, just lighter than us. Like to us what would be canary yellow would be a pale yellow to them. I would have to get my notes out to see if it is certain colors, but they do see color.

They can see shades of green and blue. That's why Macy only chews on the green blocks

I think I'm just going to dye my toy pieces green and blue if those seem to be more stimulating for them..hmm...

I don't think my boys care what color their toys are...they destroy everything equally.
